Intro

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” – Maya Angelou

My aim in therapy is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients of all backgrounds can explore their emotions and intuition. My goal is not to give you the most perfect advice, but rather to teach you how to listen to the part of yourself that already knows what you need, and to help you work through the internal and practical obstacles in your way. I support those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges, including individuals and couples from diverse and LGBTQ+ communities. I have a particular love for teaching clients how to use the mind-body connection to their advantage, blending what I learned through the practices and philosophy of yoga with my formal social work education.

About Me

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with my LCSW pending. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Gender Studies from William Smith College, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University at Buffalo. As a result of my education and experience, I see mental health issues as inextricably linked with their social and historical context, and I find that making those connections clear can be very empowering for clients. I became a therapist to pass along the knowledge which has helped me in my own battles with anxiety and depression throughout my life, including the mindfulness skills I learned through yoga and meditation. Outside of my clinical work, I am also a dancer, actor, writer, songwriter, signer, crafter, and all around artsy kind of person. (On a related note, I consider creativity to be one of life’s major built-in antidepressants along with community, humor, the outdoors, and spirituality).
